WHO WE ARE

The Straw Yard is a site located on the historic walls of Berwick-upon-Tweed and is a part of the Berwick Barracks.

It consists of an outdoor area, office facilities and a workshop that is currently a blank canvas ready to be converted into a small multipurpose creative space.

In March 2024 The Straw Yard was taken over by theatre and production company, Tortive Theatre and will serve as the company's administrative site and rehearsal & development space.

Tortive Theatre are also working closely with organisations in Berwick-upon-Tweed and Northumberland

to enable the space to be used as a creative hub for artists and groups, as well as for other events.

​

We are currently in the process of constructing our website and putting together a programme of events and services.
