27 Art House Exhibition Summary

David Roberts is internationally recognised as one of the leading practitioners of

contemporary Raku ceramics. This exhibition marks his final solo exhibition and presents a

new collection of hand-built and Raku-fired vessels inspired by geological formations,

landscape contours and gestural abstraction.

This exhibition will be David Roberts’ final one-person exhibition. Now in his 80th year, Roberts has chosen to conclude his exhibiting career while maintaining the high standards

and physical intensity that have defined his work for more than five decades.

The exhibition will feature approximately ten large-scale coil-built and Raku-fired vessels, including both

enclosed forms and open bowl forms. The work reflects Roberts’ long-standing engagement

with landscape, water erosion patterns, geological contours and the gestural language of post-

war Abstract Expressionism. Influences range from the Yorkshire Pennines surrounding his

studio to the dramatic water flows and rock formations of Milford Sound, New Zealand

.

The exhibition at 27 Art House runs until 16th Novmber.
