The Straw Yard is a flexible, characterful space for events of all kinds. Tucked away in the heart of
Berwick-upon-Tweed, our private, self-contained venue offers the freedom to make the space your own, with a charming indoor studio, secluded courtyard and garden, a fully licensed bar and an experienced team
on hand to help bring your plans to life.
Our studio is a characterful, open-plan space with original stone walls, a distinctive roof and hard-wearing flooring. A flexible blank canvas, it can be transformed to suit all sorts of events - from meetings, workshops and rehearsals to exhibitions, fairs, book launches, parties and intimate performances.
With space for up to 50 guests, the Studio is ideal when you want somewhere private, practical and a little bit different. It also provides a useful wet-weather back-up for events in our outdoor space, giving you peace of mind should the weather not behave.
Our enclosed courtyard and garden combine grass, hard-standing areas and plenty of character, making them perfect for spring, summer and autumn events. Festoon lighting adds a little magic, while the space itself is a blank canvas for your own ideas - whether that's a relaxed party, wedding reception, workshop, exhibition or community event. Outside, we can accommodate up to 80 guests seated or 120 standing.
The whole site can be closed off and secured, giving you exclusive use of a private, self-contained space that's safe and welcoming for guests of all ages.
We keep things flexible because no two events are the same. Spaces can be hired by the day, with packages tailored to suit your plans and budget. You're welcome to bring your own caterers, and our fully licensed bar can be arranged around your event.
